The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air was "West Philadelphia born and raised," I'm west OF Philadelphia born and raised. But I'm really a New Englander at heart, so a little over two years ago, I packed up my best flannel shirts and ventured off to Bates. Surfing the internet one cold winter day Freshman year, I stumbled upon the Public Journal. I laughed, I cried, I loved it. It took a good 6 months or so to get the Bates PJ ball rolling, but now we've got a nice little fledgling publication. This year, fellow PJ enthusiasts Louisa Demmitt and Kristen Hewitt are manning the helm while I'm abroad in ye olde England.  We've found that it can be tricky to rally interest on a small campus, but good things are in the works.
